You’re probably wondering what i am talking about, huh ? I am talking about a dance project i am currently working on. The idea is to create a solo number starting from ballet dancing and evolving  into solo blues movements. It is kinda like a miniature story of my life and it is most of all a perfect excuse to use the amazing outfit i bought in Japan. I totally started the project backward by finding the costume first :

- A beautiful BALLESQUE (ballet/burlesque) leotard !

And then decided to create a dance number around it.

So i took my good old torture instrument (point shoes) and pimped them out with rhinestones to match the leotard

So here is a sneak peek at the costume, cause that’s all i have so far.

Despite the hard wood floor, all of us worked our ass off and had a lot of fun !

Last month, Thomas and I were staying at our host’s house in Goteborg for a swing workshop. We were all getting ready for the dance, making ourselves pretty and having some drinks… It was like in the christmas movies…having a little glue wine with roasted almonds,cat sleeping in the living room as it is snowing outside… Yes,it was perfect until Thomas reached in his suitcase to get some socks … Not only were they strangely wet, they also not so surprisingly smelled like cat pee…Despite thomas’s obvious anger, I thought the situation was rather amusing consider that the day before,he was laughing about a similar experience that had happened to me at summer camp a year before.

So as you can imagine according to this very post title, the same thing did happen another time. Only that we were now drinking beer (instead of glue wine) and for the fact that it was raining outside (instead of snowing)cause we were in Belgium. As Tommy grabs his dancing shoes, all pimped out to go out dancing, he wonders why they are holding liquid.

Could it rain inside the house??? Most likely not….it was as clear as maths :

cat in the house + no luck + strange but yet familiar smell = another gift from mother nature.

As much as I was annoyed for him, I must admit that his lack of luck with cats’s vessels was still amusing me a little. That was until we got back from classes on Sunday.You know I had been cautious and had closed the bedroom door to make sure those evil cats couldn’t attack my belongings. It would definitely have made a whole lot of a difference if I had checked the cats were outside the bedroom before locking them in! Can’t blame the kitties for creating a swimming pool in my suitcase…I would have been bored too, locked in the same room for 8 hours.

End of the story, I think people call it faith. I learned my lesson and will not laugh at somebody’s misery anymore or at least not as much!

Thomas 2 – Alice 2 .We are now even when it comes to this.

So a member of the aircrew looks at me,raise her shoulder, tilt her head to the side (the full “too bad for you” body language) and point outside to enhance the fact that my plane is right there, on the other side of the window and that i am NOT allowed to access it.

AND THIS IS WHEN I SNAPPED !
So i throw my bag on the floor and shout “you got to be kidding me ” …and of course the flight attendant leaves the room cause she doesn’t want to deal with me, and i just sit there and cry like a baby (premenstrual symptoms aren’t a myth).
Only to realize 7 hours later (yes this is how often you get flights to Gotenbörg) that my ipod was in the same bag i threw on the floor…

I am not only talking about life achievement here or some abstract goals. Let me tell you how faith and stubbornness helped me give birth to a miracle.

So here was the problematic. Last week end, i went to Porto (beautiful little town in Portugal) where the beautiful alcoholic beverage Port comes from as well as a big part of the clothing production (If you live in Europe, you might have realized that lots of clothes here are “made in Portugal”, which means it is much cheaper to buy them in the country they are produced).

Ok now to lay the problematic i need to expose my issues :

- a) i am a Shopaholic

- b) i was flying with Ryanair

- c) i am stubborn and really wanted to bring back some Port wine – i am Portaholic

Anyway, despite my really small bag and my heavy shopping done through all the week end, i still managed to bring back 5 bottles of Port and a blanket (actually maybe it is a winter sweater but it kinda looks and feel more like a blanket to me).

I know that you are all wondering how i did it huh ? Well I learned this beautiful technique from Dax Hock who once had the terrible idea to fly to Herräng on Ryanair …wearing 3 trousers ,7 tops and 2 hats all at once. This beautiful technique is called layering and not only does it allow you to look really fat, it also allows you to free up a lot of space in your luggage for your Port bottles and heavy shopping. When the layering option isn’t enough, i highly recommend the giant purse which can hold 2 bottles, a computer and a pair of shoes.

Ok, i know my blog aims to be different than others by telling you how much my life sucks and how stupid i am, but i have to admit that i felt quite brilliant on this one and wanted to share with you how genius i really am.

What ? you’re not convinced ? Ok, you’re right, i am stupid for flying Ryanair in the first place. Never mind !

Ok, so point being, they started to ask for a little help from up there, so that i would find a boyfriend. So they all sat down, joined their hands and prayed like a bunch of weirdos.  They even came up with the idea of creating a special facebook page, where they would pimp me out and choose a guy who would tag along with us. If anybody is interested, you should contact Max and Tommy. They are offering, 2 soft drinks, 2 alcohol beverages and a pad thai /a day for anybody who’s willing to help calm the whinny bitch (me).

Anyway, here are some pictures to prove you that i am not the insane one.

Ohhhh, i get by with a little help from my friends

It is an application that helps you make reality look cooler than it really is. I’ve got to admit that it is an amazing gadget to posses but it doesn’t do miracles. I couldn’t get my early morning face to look even close to presentable, so i took pictures of my feet instead. Luckily, i had cool shoes.

You know how sometimes, you wish you just hadn’t woke up ? Well, i just had a day like that yesterday.

It started off by waking up really early (btw, i will have to talk about my new stupid alarm clock in a later post) to go to a doctor appointment on the other side of town. As a really organized person that i can sometimes be, i had arranged to borrow my brother’s car the day before, so that i wouldn’t have to struggle with general transportation.

So there i am, at the doctor’s office (on time and very proud of myself because of it ) to finally find out that my appointment was actually next week. Alright then, i’ll use that little extra time to go shop some furniture for my new apartment since i have the car. So far so good, i think that i am keeping things under control. I just need to be home at 2 pm cause i made an appointment with the plumber.

A few hours later, i find a parking spot near my house (yeah cause i now have to carry around a brand new gigantic trash can….) and as an honest citizen i ,off course, buy a parking ticket. That’s when i realize that the ticket machine isn’t yet on winter time. “no worries” do i think, i’ll just leave a little note next to my ticket to inform the cops that this machine isn’t on time. Anyway, after trying to get back into the wrong car (well it isn’t mine in the first place, am i really supposed to recognize the car i am driving amongst so many others?), i finally make my way to the right car and set my parking ticket next to my cute note for the cops (i even drew a smiley face on it)on the board.

That’s how cute i thought i was, until i realized as i passed my apartment’s door, that the clock which wasn’t on time was actually the one in my car. Part of me wish nobody saw my paper note and part of me wish that if they did, it at least brought a smile to their face. Like it did to the guy who saw me trying to break into the wrong car.

… So here i am , all sweaty from running around with my trash can and an hour early for the plumber’s appointment.

“It’s okay Alice you’re still in control”,do i think as i try to convince myself that i am just a little stupid today.

So i decide to cook myself some lunch and as the plumber seems to be late.I now start doubting that i actually have an appointment with him today. So i decide to make a phone call to check on that and that’s when i  get a confirmation from the plumber’s secretary that i indeed should have stayed in bed today since this appointment is also next week.

Sometimes you just got it wrong but it’s okay! I still love those kind of  days to remind me of how nice a day can be when i am not in my wonderland.

I like to believe that i am really busy but i also know that i am slightly disorganized and a little too addicted to shopping to spend afternoons online. Specially since i am not a big fan of buying stuff online, and since my computer gave up on me, my presence here as been rare.

I am now in new york city for “the gypsy jam weekend ” where i am teaching with Tommy. Last week we had a great photo shoot with his cousin and i will post the pictures shortly on my website.

Here is a video of Thomas and I performing our classic routine at ILHC. We actually placed first. I am proud of us for finally giving birth to this routine that we actually started choreographing in february.

For the occasion, i created a new CV . It was kinda fun to create a CV that wasn’t so professional. Maybe i went a little too crazy on it, but i thought it should reflect my personnality. The CV is meant to be folded in 3 parts and is both printed in the front and the back.
